Audrey Al-Hamd
Audrey M. Al-Hamd, the Associate Director, has been with the University of California System for twenty five years. Prior to her twenty year tenure at UCI, she was a Counseling Psychologist and researcher at UCLA. Ms. Al-Hamd has extensive background in counseling, teaching, and program development. To her credit, she piloted the first Assessment Testing Program for freshmen at UCI in 1981, which became a campuswide program in 1984.
She supervises the SAAS staff in carrying out programming for students; in developing and implementing support services; in coordinating activities with the academic departments and other services to increase retention and graduate rates of participants, and in thier counseling and referral activities. She directs the Freshman and Sophomore Year Projects and teaches a University Acculturation course for program participants.
She is a graduate of Southern Illinois University, the University of Illinois, and pursued a PhD at the University of California, Los Angeles....her dream deferred.
